Where Is My Website?
Many people ask me “where is my website listed?” and often the most likely answer is that it is listed - it just isn’t showing up for the terms you want it to be found for.
There are a few simple key things to consider and once these are in place your website will show up in the search engine results pages.
- You need to have the keywords people search for scattered throughout your website. These words need to be in the actual content and positioned in the key locations of the page.
- You also need to have keyword links to your website that use these same words as the linking text.
Before you choose your keywords, make sure you have “done your homework” to see what phrases and words people are searching for. Google has a free tool called Google Suggest that will help you do this homework.
So if your website isn’t showing up in the search results page you need to ask yourself (or just look at your website) do I have the keywords in my text often enough and are the links to my website using these words also.
When the answer is yes to both of these questions, then you will see number one rankings too.
